Editorial: who writes Veld & Ledger
Veld & Ledger is a small South African desk that reads trading platforms the way a careful reader would: slowly, and with the fine print open in another tab.
This site covers one broker in depth — IQ Option — for people searching from South Africa. We are not IQ Option, we are not owned by IQ Option, and we are not a licensed financial services provider. Nothing here is financial advice, and nothing here is a recommendation to trade.
What we actually do
We read the operator's own published pages — its regulation page, its download page, its help centre, its payment documentation — and we write down what they say, with the date we checked. Where a figure is published officially, we quote it. Where it is not, we say so rather than round something plausible into the gap. That rule is enforced by a facts file the whole site is written against, and it is the reason you will sometimes read "the cashier shows the current list" instead of a confident-sounding number.
What we do not do
- We do not claim to have deposited, traded or withdrawn money to time a payout. If you read a payout timeline here, it comes from the operator's published guidance, not from a stopwatch.
- We do not publish signals, robots, "guaranteed" strategies or win rates.
- We do not write scare copy. Where IQ Option is not authorised locally, we say it once, plainly, and then explain what it means for a South African reader — no sirens, no soft-soaping.
The FSCA question, up front
IQ Option is not authorised by South Africa's Financial Sector Conduct Authority. That is a fact worth knowing before you deposit, because it shapes what happens if something goes wrong: no local complaints route, no local ombud, no South African compensation scheme. It is not, on its own, a verdict on the platform — plenty of South Africans use offshore brokers deliberately. It is a trade-off, and our job is to describe it accurately enough that you can decide for yourself.
How this site is funded
Some links to IQ Option can earn us a commission. That is set out in full on our partner disclosure page. It does not buy a positive verdict, and it does not change what the facts file says.
Who writes it
Editorial responsibility sits with Thandeka Mokoena, Broker Markets Editor. Platform, payment and licensing details are checked against the operator's own pages and carry the date they were checked. Those details move — if you spot something out of date, tell us and we will fix it.
